Downing Street approach Linda Taylors

When Tony Blair delivered the seventh in his series of "Our Nation's Future" lectures in Manchester recently the focus was on the role of work in the 21st Century.

The Prime Minister reflected on the challenging nature of work in the modern world and looked at the issues that lie ahead. To help gather opinions from the local business community, members of Mr Blair's Downing Street Headquarters called at the head office of Bolton business Linda Taylor Associates to get their views on how flexible working can bring benefits to a business.

The management at well-known local family recruitment business, Linda Taylor Associates has long practised family friendly measures and flexible working. Many of the permanent team benefit from this modern work culture and enjoy part time, job share and even term time only working. As a mum herself Linda remembers clearly how important it always is to be able to support children's events such as sports days and special assemblies. Linda says "It's all too easy for working parents to feel an amount of guilt at leaving their children in the hands of child-minders and nurseries. However, we feel that our family friendly measures add value to our business and make it easier to deliver our service. Recruitment and retention of staff is never a problem and a happy team is more motivated and productive, therefore more profitable for the business."

A case study featuring Linda Taylor Associates is now featured on the Prime Minister's own website as an example of how even a small business can strike the balance between home and work life.

Mr Blair's full speech and the Case Study can be viewed by accessing Prime Minister/Our Nation's Future at the Prime Minister's own website.
