job description
Our client in the education sector seeks a Special Educational Needs Learning Support Officer to provide support to teaching staff and pupils in a variety of ways, including exam invigilation.
- To be directly responsible to the Head of Special Needs Dept in conjunction with the relevant mainstream support service
- To work under the day-to-day direction of the individual class teacher with regard to the teaching and learning of pupils in the classroom
- To support, where appropriate, other children with special needs who may be working as part of a group with the child or children identified by a Statement of Special Educational Needs
- To monitor and evaluate the work of statemented pupils as appropriate and to maintain records of in-class support and of the progress of individual pupils
- To attend to the physical and emotional welfare of children and to liaise with pastoral staff where necessary and liaise with the staff, parents and other support agencies to help monitor progress
- To attend relevant meetings.
- To work towards the successful integration of the individual pupil
- To act as an invigilator in school examinations.
- To take part in lunchtime and morning break supervision duties and any other duties commensurate with the post
- To support and uphold at all times the ethos of the school as established by the Headteacher and Governors.
